Interactive discussion?

No, no, no

Good preaching must be carried out forcefully

Herald the good news of our victor

To our God, and our brethren

Preaching intrinsically involves teaching

But teaching does not equate to preaching

A good sermon must have careful exegesis

Not eisegesis, taking the meaning out of context

Ministers of Christ are entrusted with blades that

Are able to cut, and pierce through the minds of men

Adulterating the Word of God therefore is not acceptable

Because human souls are at stake

The way how preachers deliver their message matter

Faithful preachers cannot just preach about

The oracles of blessings, the goodwill of God towards us

We must remain faithful

The oracles of woes are then indispensable

How should we press on

To be faithful and competent?

God look upon His worshippers

Even in times of preaching in the pulpit

When preaching is ignited with worship

White hot zeal blazing in the temple of God

When preachers can worship while preaching

Such fragrant offerings God is most pleased

Being a servant of the living God

We must at all times know our place

We are undeserving sinners

Desperately need for mercy and grace

Preachers are of no exception

When pleading intermingled with preaching

Leaps upon leaps of mercy and grace

Shall be bestowed upon the preachers

We will be empowered by the Holy Spirit

To proclaim the excellencies of Christ

Before God and to our brethren

But how do we highlight our main point?

More screaming? Maybe

Repetition? Absolutely

Only if preachers can master this art

The craft of repetition

A massive weaponry designed to enable

Our message hitting home

Only if we can execute it without sounding banal

Then our kinsmen will be lifted up

Edified beyond measure

Let’s say if we are able to accomplish all this

But the theology does not catch up

The sermons will succumb to mere motivational speech

If we can be like some great orators

But without sound theology

We will be like noisy instruments

Making sound that is of very little usefulness

A good preacher must

Forcefully herald

Carefully exegete

Mindfully worship

Constantly plead

Thoroughly study

So that we can remain faithful and competent

Unto God and Christ Jesus our Lord
