The Gospel is a product of God
Not fabricated by human hands
It is in every sense of the word
Written personally by God
To be indifferent to the Gospel
Is to be weary of God
To be obedient, properness
Is the only fitting response
But it is not enough
Attitude matters
Gospel will be of no good use to us
If we neglect our inadequacy
Our fallenness and sinfulness
God spared not the angels in ancient times
But spared us through the Gospel
Salvation then should not be taken lightly
Receive it with fear and trembling
Is the only fitting attitude
But it is not enough
Truthfulness matters
Not just to the preachers
But to the hearers as well
There is no room for the godly
To receive flattery remarks
If the Gospel message is edifying
Then thank the preachers for that
But if it is not
Then pray God for mercy and grace
To be lavished on that preacher
Being sincere with our brethren
Is what we are expected from each other
But it is not enough
Gladness matters
When preachers deliver oracles of woes
But not of blessings
How should the hearers respond?
In grumbling? In cynicism?
No
Rather, in all gladness
It is for the hearers’ benefit that
The admonition is delivered
It is for the hearers’ growth that
The heralding is given
To receive the Gospel with a joyful heart
Is therefore a fitting action
But it is not enough
Gratitude matters
For without the realisation that
We are all doomed without Jesus
And destined to perish along the tides of this world
Gospel message would mean very little to us
It is only when we receive the Gospel
With all gratitude
Can we humble our proud hearts
Surrender to the living God
And live
But it is not enough
Urgency matters
If we are not convinced that
Our lives hung on the cliff
If we are not trusting that
Only Jesus can save
If we are deluded that
There is still more time for folly
Then the Gospel would mean very little to us
If we receive the Gospel with all earnestness
We would not waste our time on frivolities
Therefore, just focus on the Gospel
The Word of the living God
